What You Will Do
You will be responsible for the design, development, and support of new products and services as well as improvements on mature ones. All product development should be customer focused and purpose-driven. We make niche products and sell business to businesses. Our award-winning customer service team is well known in our industry for our high quality of customer service and highly knowledgeable team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
- Ability and willingness to lead others in process improvement, product improvement, and product ownership
- Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
- Work in collaboration with other departments to find win-win solutions
- Report progress and status regularly
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
- Research existing technologies to determine how they could be applied in new ways to solve problems
- Prepare proposals for new projects, identifying potential problems, and proposing solutions
- Involved with the design, fabrication and modification of electrical, electronic, mechanical and/or electro-mechanical, sub-systems and systems
- Participates in the preparation of complex proposals
- Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services. Investigate solutions to product or process problems
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.
- Responsible for technical activity and completion of the assigned task on time and within budget
- Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems
- May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
- Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
- Support the program design to cost and design for manufacturing requirements
- Develop prototypes
Technical Skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge
- Understanding and interpretation of orbiting satellites and paths
- Experience with ground station maintenance and monitoring operations
- Interpretation of records of satellite trends
- Analyze, and simulate communications systems, subsystems, and algorithms for satellite communications networks
Qualifications
Additional Required Technical Skills
- Systems, Electrical, Mechatronics, Controls or Robotics Engineering
- Travel 5%-30% of time domestic and international
- Ability to learn and grasp new concepts
- PCBA design and software development
- Solidworks
- Stellar customer-facing experience
- Zendesk or similar support system experience
- Understand and appreciate computer hardware
- Ability to adapt existing tech for unconventional usage
- Interpersonal skills to simplify and present concepts to non-technical audience and stakeholders
- Project management experience
- Antenna Control System design
- Full proficiency in understanding and implementing trigonometric formulas for satellite pointing predictions
- Must be experienced in Satcom essentials, Multi-Motor Control, Large Aperture Antenna, Velocity Loop and Torque Bias
