Yes, our initial goal was to assemble members of the original 7200 design team and recreate the 7200. The 8200 uses up-to-date, state of the art parts and components and software to completely replace the 7200 system with the 8200 ACU, 8250 Drive Cabinet and Position Feedback Devices in most all cases.
We realized early on that if we were to be effective in this market, we would also need a Drop-in replacement for the 7200 ACU. We have been successful in creating configurations where the 8200 is installed in place of the 7200 ACU, controlling the 7150 Drive Cabinet and using the existing position feedback devices and IFL.
Yes. You set the IP as you would in Windows. Do not alter the IP for the Drive Cabinet connection because you will lose communication with the drive cabinet.
Yes.
If the “no power at drive cabinet” (legacy ACU only) or “IOC1 comm error” (to the 8250 DC) forced standby and clear within 30 minutes, it should restart whatever tracking mode it was in; this time can be extended
See the 8200 OM manual section 4.1 for the list of faults. Most of these have a 2-second delay before they force standby. The “operator” faults (E-stop, maintenance override, drive disabled at ACU) are immediate (no delay).
In Steptrack mode, with no signal, the unit simply sounds an error and holds position.
In Predictive Track mode, with no signal, the unit falls back to our model and points at the satellite (moving with it) until the receiver level comes back up again.
See O&M manual sections 2.6.2, 2.6.3 and 2.6.3.1
Note that the Default and Immediate target profiles can not be used with TLE, IESS-412, TLE/Steptrack, and IESS-412/Steptrack modes. New target profiles must be created when using these modes.
Requirements
1. ACU must have internet connection connected to E1 NETWORK port
2. Site coordinates must be entered
3. Soft limits must be entered
If the previous steps did not correct the issue, quit the ACU, verify the internet connection is working (e.g. open Internet Explorer) and relaunch the ACU app
When setting up a new target go to the “TARGET” menu, then select “NEW” and for the “Mode” select TLE (SGP4) from the dropdown menu. This is the NORAD Two Line Element algorithm. Then select a target to track. Only the targets that can be seen from their current site will be available in the target list, so make sure the site data is set up or the ACU cannot properly populate the list. The Bias angles would be any offset known or observed from the site configuration between the peak signal and the TLE pointing data, if not known, use the default of Zero if it is not known. The “TLE cycle time” represents the amount of time to calculate a new data point or pointing solution.
Yes.
Yes, there are 2 available and the E-Stops can be daisy chained to provide as many as required.
Lightning strike protection is usually provided by the antenna manufacturer and we do offer added protection between the PDU and ACU by way of our Fiber Optics Option. The encoders are mounted directly to the antenna structure and are grounded there.
TLE (NORAD) and Intelsat track are standard in our 8200 software package and provided at no additional charge. Computer/Sun/Moon and Star track are to be written in on demand at no additional charge.
Our current beacon receiver offering (which supports ULPC – see below) is the integrated receiver option. We have receivers in production; L, S, C, Ku, X and Ka as well as multi-band receivers.
We also interface with the Vertex DTR, the Model 253, DTR and others such as the 3430L and we will add more as customers require.
When you place an order for a unit, we will check to see which receiver you are using, making sure the unit complies.
We have tested some beacon receivers and found they do not perform to the specifications our customers require. If you have a beacon receiver we have yet to test, we will entertain the possibility and see if the specifications will meet expectations prior to writing it into our repertoire.
Yes, we can do this, or, we can assist in finding a single phase POL motor
The CP/LP Driving Software is part of our Standard Software package. This is at no charge to you, confirmed. This does not cover any additional Hardware that may be required at the feed in some circumstances.
It depends on the mode of the system, if the system sees a signal level drop of over 10dB while in Steptrack it will not continue tracking
As of version 4.0.0, yes. All you need to do is go to the IP address of the ACU and you can control via the web.
Make sure that when you have any updates on the original unit, you also update the spare or at least make note of what version of the ACU software you were running and update the spare to match when you put it in service.
No, the encoders we provide work well with AC motors and our application so there should be no worry of any slippage or accuracy issues.
The door has the ability to lift off of it’s hinges and be removed if needed, so no other door is needed.
We include a manual jog panel in the drive cabinet and also have TeamViewer installed on the ACU with the ability to move the system from there. You can also get a PMCU that allows you to plug in a control with that device instead.
Yes, we are able to provide Fiber Optic cabling.
Standard length is 40′.
No, the ACU does not have a monitor output.
